My Kitchen Window.......

I snapped some pictures of the crystal I have hanging in my kitchen window.
Outside the yard is freshly mowed.

The seeds are coming up.  So far the Sweet Peas are doing the best.

I continue to kill flies at a rate that I would find disturbing if I were killing any other creature.
But I'm good.

Every afternoon the sun shines in and this crystal fills the kitchen with rainbows.

Just counting my blessings for today.

Sweet Life......

I hope you had a great mother's day!  I have spent the entire weekend going through and making piles.  A lot of stuff got pitched.
But I made progress and watched old movies.  I have yet to take a shower today, but it's been a great day.
I think we have unrealistic expectations of what make great days.
Or maybe that's just me.
If that made you think, it might be you too.
Plastic up and ready to scrape the ceilings in the kitchen.

Though my house looks like this and I'm going to have to put the coffee pot in my bedroom for the foreseeable future.......despite the fact that my sugar and flour and CDs are packed into a tub with some plastic plates and cups..........I had a great day.
I worked, which has been hard on me but good for me.
I got my house in order, so to speak.
And I listened to some of my favorite mellow songs in the world.
I sang.  Jack sang too.
And it occurred to me that I have a sweet life, all things considered.
I am grateful for it.
So here is one of my favorite songs, going out to my own Rock Star and Rockette, during this lovely time in their sweet life.
I am putting it here because I know they will see it in time to dance in their own house that is sweetly and phenomenally prepared for our Charli-girl.  Before things get........hectic.
Dance.
Consciously make a lovely memory to remember always.
Count your blessings.
Listen to your mother.
This one's on your old mom, who *may* be the world's leading DJ when it comes to soft rock love songs.
:D
Nobody ever did it better than Paul Davis.  Nobody.

Epiphanies Abounding

Without getting too personal, I just have to say that it has come to my attention that many people who  have been living through very tough times are now experiencing healing.

Sometimes this takes strange twists and turns, but things seem to be coming together, and for many people.  Every step toward healing counts, and those steps don't have to be the physical kind.  Celebrate each and every one.

I have noticed in my own life that these things tend to happen in spurts, so to speak.

At any rate, you might want to take a moment and count your blessings.  I certainly am.

Whether you have reached the top of your personal mountain or the depths of your personal hell, whether you are finding strength in anger, resignation or plain old fashioned stubborn "keepin' on", more power to you.  Find your strength and apologize for ever doubting the awesomeness that is you.  Treat yourself better.  Get off the merry-go-round that always brings you pain and then just keep walking forward.  The world won't end.

Why are we always so surprised that we can do that and the world doesn't end?
Because we have enormous egos.  And quite melodramatic imaginations....

But we are only human and besides that, we earned them,.

I don't know if it's the planets aligning or if maybe those 10 inches that the earth moved on it's axis during the Japan quake could have something to do with it.  It happens this way sometimes.  I'm just pointing it out.

Listen to the still small voice inside and then believe, whether you are scared or not, just believe.

Hope lives!

Random Facts

10 things you may not know about me:

1.  I have a pretend grandbaby.  The baby is not pretend, she is real.  I just pretend she is my grandbaby.

2. When I count my blessings, I often include thanks for the magic eraser.

3. I really hate it when people in electic wheelchairs use the road like a car.  And I feel badly about that.

4. I was a party girl in the 80's.  This is not as uncommon as you may have been led to believe.

5. I have an incredible love for older gentlemen, especially of the southern variety.  All that chivalry, what's not to love?

6. I have recently been wondering what the difference between apathy and security is.

7. I gained over 100 lbs when I was pregnant with the twins.  People nudged each other when they walked by me and refused to make eye contact with me.

8. This reduced my mother to fits of uncontrollable laughter.

9. I go outside first thing every morning and last thing every night.  I can't seem to stop.

10. I believe once you have eaten all the crow from all the opinions you were so free with in your 20's, your work on earth is pretty much done.

These are all things I have good stories about.  But this weekend I am going to be cooking and cleaning (because you know that makes me feel like a woman) and visiting with my kids.  And counting my blessings.

If you haven't counted your blessings recently, give it a whirl.  You may be surprised.
